What is Topcoats and what is it used for?

Answer. Topcoats is a decorative and protective paint coating that forms a finish layer with a specified color, gloss, and texture. It protects metal, wood or other substrates from corrosion, moisture, and atmospheric influences. In AKZ, industry, and transport engineering, coating enamels are used for decorative finishing and long‑term protection of equipment, bodies, machines and construction structures.

What properties are characteristic of acrylic‑polyurethane coating enamels?

Answer. Acrylic‑polyurethane enamels possess high lightfastness, excellent adhesion to primer coatings, physicomechanical properties (hardness, elasticity, mechanical impact). They dry quickly, are easy to apply and retain gloss and colour even during prolonged outdoor service. Such coatings are suitable for metal structures in AKZ used both indoors and outdoors, painting of buses, transport and construction machinery, as well as for any objects where aesthetics and durability are important.

What are the differences between 1K alkyd and 2K acrylic‑polyurethane enamel coatings?

Answer. One‑component alkyd enamels are well suited for interior or exterior painting of metal structures or equipment, providing ease of application and uniform coverage, but they have limited resistance to ultraviolet radiation, chemical exposure and mechanical loads, making them less durable when used outdoors or in demanding conditions. Two‑component acrylic‑polyurethane enamels, cured with polyisocyanate, form a strong, elastic and chemically resistant coating with high resistance to UV radiation, mechanical loads and atmospheric factors, which makes them preferable for exterior applications, transport engineering and other heavily used objects.

What gloss options are available for coating enamels?

Answer. Coating enamels, including primer‑finish coating, serving as finish coats, are available in high-gloss, gloss, semi-gloss, semi-matte, deep matte finishes, allowing selection of a coating to meet design and functional requirements. High gloss gives the surface a striking appearance, emphasizing colour and shape, while matte enamels hide surface defects and create a more restrained aesthetic effect. Gloss does not affect the protective properties of the coating but determines the visual result and ease of maintenance.
